Imagination.

I wanna try to "understand"what imagination is. Well, when I try to "undestand" (I put the inverted commas because I still have to "understand" what it means to "undestand"!) what words mean I always look up for their etymology, 'cause words may be like people, they both have a story beyond and as all the people their story and their meaning can only be interpreted.. The word "Imagination" actually doesn't have any etimology, we could only "imagine" (LOL) that it comes from the "images", just like some pictures. Is imagination made of images? Image is a word that comes from the greek word "μιμεσισ" ("Mimesis") and means "imitation", but when we imagine something is usally that may not be considered "realistic". And here the question is quite normal: what is reality? How can a person "understand" to be real? And it is all just weird, because sometimes what is in our imagination cannot turn into reality even if these are credible.. How can things come true? Surely, it's just up to us, or maybe it is up to our ability in understanding.. But is it possible to understand something that is not real at all?

Too many questions :S
